Why Madrid Is Perfect for Remote Work
Madrid has emerged as one of Europe's favourite destinations for digital nomads. And it's no coincidence: exceptional weather, competitive cost of living, excellent internet connectivity, a central timezone for working with both Europe and the Americas, and a quality of life few cities can match.
Spain's Digital Nomad Visa
Since 2023, Spain has a specific visa for digital nomads (regulated by the Startup Law). Main requirements:
- Work remotely for companies or clients outside Spain (maximum 20% of work can be for Spanish clients).
- Minimum income of approximately €2,334/month (200% of the Minimum Interprofessional Wage).
- Private health insurance.
- Clean criminal record.
Initial visa: 1 year, renewable up to 5. One of the best options in Europe for freelancers and remote workers.
